It’s that time of year again. Most of you are preoccupied with Christmas shopping or work Christmas parties, but some of you are preparing for your festive Christmas wedding!

There’s something undeniably magical about a Christmas wedding. The sparkle of lights, the cosy atmosphere and the festive joy combine to create the perfect backdrop to say “I do.”

It’s probably common knowledge now that there’s not really such thing as wedding season anymore. Any time of the year is acceptable to get married now; whether it’s a weekend or a weekday, a bank holiday or a random Tuesday afternoon. But a Christmas wedding? That’s been pretty popular for years now. And it’s actually such a wonderful time to get married!

So many people have more time off and they’re generally in better spirits as the festivities always seem to get people in a celebratory mood.

Kelly and Jon’s Windsor Wonderland Christmas Wedding

Kelly spent the morning of her wedding getting ready at The Royal Berkshire Hotel where I arrived to captured Kelly and her sister having their finishing touches of hair and makeup. It was a chilled, quiet morning listening to festive music and sipping champagne. The sun beaming in through the suite window was a bonus to getting some gorgeous dress and shoe photos!

Then it was time to head off to Windsor to get ready for the wedding ceremony at Windsor Guildhall, located right in the heart of the town, just a stones throw from the iconic Windsor Castle. Windsor during the Christmas period is absolutely stunning. Upon arrival I was greeted with a huge Christmas tree beside the statue of Queen Victoria surrounded by the hustle and bustle of locals doing their Christmas shopping. It feels so very warm and charming walking along the cobbled streets, with the canopy of Union Jack flags flying overhead between the historic, quaint little gift and coffee shops.

The council chamber at the Windsor Guildhall was the setting for the ceremony. The room is surrounded with royal portraits from the last five centuries as well as ample natural daylight. It’s breathtaking!

Once the happy couple said their vows and had their first kiss it was go go go whilst we raced against time to catch the last couple of hours of natural light! With a December wedding, you’re going to have less daylight hours for to capture these moments, but with a well thought out plan we nailed it!

Onto the Great House in Sonning for the wedding breakfast, we were greeted with an absolutely stunning room styled by Emma Reeve Weddings. I adored the contrast of the deep maroon touches against the pastel florals by Rooted in Rosemary, with the gold accents within the table scape. It wasn’t over the top festive as you’d imagine, it was very stylish and very chic!

We had a quick stroll along the River Thames for some couple portraits before heading back to get some quick family snaps! Just in time before the sun set.

The evening celebrations continued inside with hilarious speeches, evening cocktails, sparklers and of course a fab dancefloor with music from the Spin Sisters, elevated by a sax player!

It was a festive wedding to remember! If you’re looking for a wedding videographer or a combined package of photography and videography for your Christmas wedding then get in touch
